This book was great fun to read. I finished it in one afternoon! The author does a nice job of not only letting us into her online dating world, but into her thoughts and feelings as well. As a former online dater myself (I met my husband there!), I was able to relate to her highs, lows, and personal revelations. This book is a MUST for anyone currently dating online, as well as for anyone thinking about venturing into the realm of cyber-romance!

A must read!!! Jane Coloccia nails the experience of online dating and writes in a way that lets us visualize and relate to these experiences. Her insights and process makes the book revelatory and fascinating. This book is both funny and sad. It shows us the insanity of human behavior and the chronic need for attention and response. Brilliantly done!!! I am glad I read this before the movie is made(just a guess that movie rights will be sold). Thank you!!!!

3 out of 5 stars Learn from somebody else's mistakes   July 27, 2008

In her book, Jane Coloccia turns her online dating experiences into a series of brief but comical anecdotes about the many frogs she had to kiss before finally meeting her prince. The book begins by explaining how she was first lured into the world of Internet dating by a friend who had found her true love online. Once she began her online dating adventure, Jane Coloccia quickly became hooked and thus began her eight-year-long trial and error process.

The bulk of the book is made up of multiple accounts about her failed online dating encounters. Each frog is given his own chapter with a humorous title that seems to capture her overall view of the guy such as "The Surfer Dude", "The Phantom", "The Stalker", "The Pothead", and "Mr. Revenge", among others.

Through these accounts, Jane Coloccia reveals an awful lot about her own personality and admits that she was more attracted to the constant cyber attention she was receiving from men on the web than she was to most of the men she agreed to go out with. In some parts, she comes off as a little too judgmental and later confesses to being a bit of a "dating snob" but despite the occasional hint of arrogance in her writing, the stories she tells are certainly entertaining.

Overall, the book is an easy and amusing read. It offers a lot of insight about what to do and what not to do when it comes to online dating. In the final chapters of the book, Jane Coloccia provides readers with suggestions for how to successfully navigate the slippery slopes of online dating and even includes advice straight from her own therapist's mouth.

I can see how this book might be helpful to online daters who are interested in learning from someone else's mistakes so if you are in the market for something along those lines, consider picking up a copy of Jane Coloccia's confessions.

1 out of 5 stars Looking for a man with a six-figure salary???   July 7, 2008

The book was not geared to everyone, only for the snobbish. It was a little all over the place. It did not seem like it was put together well. Many of the characters were belittled just for their career choice and not because of the person they are. I found it contradictory because the author said she would not settle for a man unless he met her needs, yet in the end she does settle for a man that does not really show affection, but has a good job. The book is good for any woman looking purely for a man online that makes a six-figure salary.
I did not think it was anything like " He is just not that into you".. It was very disappointing to me.
