Product Description Barbara Fox’s husband Shelly died seven months short of their fiftieth wedding anniversary; a fact that seemed unbelievably unfair to her. “We never planned or expected that either one of us would die. The first time I had to check that little ‘widow’ box on a medical form I just couldn’t do it. How could I be a widow? Widows are my late mother and grandmother, widows are little blue haired ladies with white curly hair, I have a blond pony tail and I’m wearing jeans and a tank top. Help! This is a terrible mistake.” She began keeping a journal about her—as she calls it—Act Two as she dealt with big and little problems like going to restaurants alone, sharpening knives, joining an internet dating service, selling her condo, meeting and dating different men. Her suggestions and ideas, ”If you want to go somewhere and can’t persuade a friend to go with you, go alone and pretend you are on a business trip or vacation” and her Widowisms, (sayings, slogans, watchwords, advice from songs, poems , even fortune cookies—Don’t give up five minutes before the miracle, Fake it till You Make It, If someone doesn’t like me it’s their problem, and their loss— will she hopes, help other widows (widowers) deal with and begin their own Act Two.

It has interesting thoughts and recipes. I would highly tell anyone who has recently became widowed to read this book.
